Not goodbye, just a ‘see you next year’

Not goodbye, just a ‘see you next year’

25 April 2019

Project Manager, Bernardo Hourmat takes a break from his role with the Research Project Management office to explore another area of Imperial College London.

The team were sad to say ‘so-long’ to Bernardo last week as he departed the Research Project Management (RPM) team and his role as Project Manager with the PERFORM project. Bernardo has taken on an opportunity to work with the International Relations Office (IRO) at Imperial College London as Senior International Relations Officer (Europe) for a 12-month secondment. Bernardo joined Imperial in 2014, after 5 years working as a Projects Manager for EU funded projects at the European Welding Federation in Portugal. Now, after having worked with the RPM team on large transnational European research projects for the past five years, he will be taking with him a great wealth of skills and the IRO are lucky to have him.

A new Project Manager will be joining the RPM team from June 3rd however in the interim, Dr Marta Archanco will be continuing the support for PERFORM. Dr Archanco has worked with RPM for over 2 years, supporting similar European Commission (EC) projects in the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial. She has worked at Imperial for the past 12 years, has a PhD in Biology and is an exceptional Project Manager.

Bernardo said it had been a pleasure to work with all involved in his work for the past 5 years, first with the precursor EC project, EUCLIDS, then with PERFORM. He is hopeful to work with the team in continued research projects next year!

As it is a 12-month secondment, this is not a ‘greener pastures move’ however he will be sorely missed, and we wish him all the best in his new role.
